Y2W6 - Out of School At Last!

We really had to push ourselves to be motivated to finish the last three days of school. Avery had her rescheduled Wild Life Park field trip on Monday, unfortunately when they got to the park, it was closed. They went instead to a really nice park in Bonn and let the kids play on the playground and had a picnic lunch. They had a ton of fun, which dulled the sting of missing the Wild Life Park twice.

The highlight of the week came on Wednesday, the last day, where they had their "Sports Day" Assembly. This is where the whole school comes together and the winners of each class are announced in front of everyone. I am pleased to say that Bailey (who wanted it so bad) got the honor of Top Girl in her class. And very surprisingly, shy little non-aggressive Avery also got the honor of Top Girl in her class. They were both awarded certificates. Bailey got hers at the whole school assembly and the kindergartners received theirs in a private ceremony in their classes as not to freak them out, making them go in front of the whole school. They were both extremely proud of this honor. I was so glad I was able to be there for the assembly. I had to rush to my Doctor's appt. right after the assembly. The baby is fine by the way, measuring normal. We stayed after school for a couple hours, had a picnic lunch, and they played with some of their friends for a while. It was so hot, in hind sight, we should have gone to the pool.

We planned on going to the pool all day Thursday, but the weather did not cooperate at all. So, Bailey forced me into this major reorganization project of the house. I'm glad she did but I wasn't really wanting to do it the first day out of school.

Friday was much the same. We went to Ikea first thing to get some organization supplies, thinking that the weather would get better by afternoon and we could go to the pool. But, to no avail. It was far too chilly for the unheated pool. We went to the park instead. It was really fun to just play, without any impending responsibilities. To live up to the ideal of "never a dull moment" with three kids, Avery had a leg injury getting caught under the teeter-taughter and Bryn decided to put a small rock up her nose. Thank goodness we were able to get her to blow it out. We didn't do too much to celebrate the 4th of July this year, but Greg made the most amazing Philly Cheese steak sandwiches. I felt like I was back in Ann Arbor, eating at Casey's Tavern. After dinner, the girls went out in the backyard and had some fun with sparklers (all except Avery who fell asleep at 4:30 and didn't wake up until the next morning).

The weekend was pretty normal with the exception of Sunday afternoon, where Greg was able to get the Wimbledon Final on the Internet. Our kids were entertaining themselves (Bryn was sleeping) and Greg and I were able to spend some relaxing time watching Wimbledon.
